I deleted Grub

So I've got a partitioned hard drive so I have around 3 active desktops I utilise being Linux Mint 9 (games), 10 (work and personal files) and Windows 7 (came with laptop). Which entails around 9 different partitions on the hard disk some being OS restore backups and dividers to seperate the partitions.

So the other day I get a system message on the Mint 10 desktop. "Your Hard Drive only has 2Gb of free space reamaining". I see this and think 'time to learn how to use Gparted'

Now I've downloaded and installed the package for Gparted from the software repository and am in it messing around with the partitions (basically decreasing their disk size so I can claim the real estate back for Mint 10 until I buy a portable hard drive for backup and full install of Mint 11 or 12) and think... "Hey I wanna upload a movie to my ereader" So I rush the work I'm doing and jump out of Gparted and restart the laptop.

The thing starts up and whammo. I've got no Grub splash screen for OS selection.

Bummer dude. Oh well, at least I know how to fix this. Maybe I'll read the instructions for Gparted before I fix the startup issue.

Asus EEE PC 701 new OS upgrade... Completed

After looking dumbfounded for awhile whilst looking at the shitty little thing. I've seen the logic behind the BIOS.

1. Change boot device to USB. There has to be something in the USB port when powering on the fricken thing first though, and sometimes it will not register at all.

2. Select the drive to be used in the Drive screen (USB in this case, see part 1)

3. Change OS status from "FINISHED" to "START"

4. Save and exit.

Hopefully the little fucker will now start with a "new" OS via the USB port. Now all you need to do is get the OS to see the wifi and turn it on...
